Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, analyze, test, and implement software operating and application systems.
- Act as an expert in assigned software engineering areas and serve as a lead or consultant for at least one team.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide formal and informal technical direction.
- Maintain accountability for quality, scope, schedule, budget, and project delivery.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, gaps, and deficiencies in requirements and propose solutions.
- Lead knowledge-sharing activities such as presentations and internal white papers.
- Contribute to rapid system problem identification and service restoration.
- Plan and execute testing strategies that balance quality, cost, and implementation time.
- Translate functional, non-functional, and implied requirements into designs and code.
- Partner with Operations to solve system-level problems and support reliability, scale, and cost objectives.
- Communicate with clients, project managers, staff, and other disciplines while maintaining project documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Six years of software development experience, including pioneering new engineering approaches and technologies.
- Experience developing web-based applications and web services using Java, REST, ServiceNow, and other web technologies.
- Experience interfacing with databases and integrating third-party products with existing infrastructure.
- Equivalent relevant experience may substitute for education requirements, generally at one year of experience for one year of education, at the hiring manager’s discretion.
- Preferred master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Preferred experience with IntelliJ, VS Code, JIRA, Git, Agile/Scrum project development, Java or another object-oriented language, IDM/OSSO, Hibernate/Seam, and Banner.
- Preferred experience with legacy-system application integration, cloud-native development, and porting or refactoring on-site systems to the cloud, preferably AWS.
- Preferred experience with J2EE, Java EE, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Technical certifications are preferred.
