Responsibilities
- Design and implement product experiences from customer research and wireframes through production code.
- Expand and enhance Ashby’s in-house design system with flexible, composable components.
- Consult with engineers on bespoke work, information hierarchy, scannability, and other design concerns.
- Own projects end to end, including researching problems, writing product specifications, building wireframes, and implementing solutions.
- Build approachable products that support both beginners and power users.
- Collaborate deliberately with product managers, designers, infrastructure engineers, and teammates across time zones.
- Contribute to developer tooling, shared building blocks, and the quality of Ashby’s software.
Requirements
- Ability to design and build software, combining design ideas with implementation in code.
- Ability to tackle challenging product-design problems and improve other engineers’ designs.
- Ability to work autonomously with end-to-end ownership of research, specifications, wireframes, and implementation.
- Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including debugging, abstractions, and learning quickly.
- Previous experience with Ashby’s exact technology stack is not required; an interest in typed languages is helpful.
- Willingness to participate in pair programming and interviews covering product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure.
