Responsibilities
- Set technical direction across multiple products and platforms, including AI infrastructure, data platforms, and shared primitives.
- Personally build scalable components and services that increase leverage for teams across the organization.
- Define prompt libraries, MCP server patterns, AI-generated-code quality gates, and human-agent collaboration practices.
- Architect secure and governed Model Context Protocol integrations for internal APIs, data sources, and platform services.
- Drive build-versus-buy decisions and convergence on strategic technical standards.
- Establish prioritization mechanisms, AI launch checklists, SLOs, canonical metrics, evaluation frameworks, and guardrail dashboards.
- Lead high-stakes architectural decisions, contingency planning, responsible-AI reviews, and post-incident learning processes.
- Modernize legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native, agent-ready services.
- Define security patterns for sensitive member data in partnership with Risk, Security, and Compliance teams.
- Mentor staff-level engineers and shape technical leadership practices across individual contributors.
Requirements
- 8–12 years of full-stack development and architecture experience building web applications and services, including technical leadership beyond a single team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Recent hands-on experience personally building and shipping working software.
- Advanced hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, including larger multi-step work and adoption of engineering practices.
- Strong proficiency in at least two of TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, and C#/.NET.
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular.
- Deep experience with RESTful API design, distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native delivery on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including multi-region or hybrid deployments.
- Hands-on experience with Model Context Protocol, prompt engineering for code, and AI building blocks such as Azure AI Foundry, RAG, LangChain, GraphRAG, or GraphDB.
- Production experience with Redis, Kafka, or RabbitMQ, plus Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and modern DevOps or SRE practices.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers, establishing frameworks and standards, and explaining complex AI and architectural concepts to executives and nontechnical partners.
