
Senior Software Engineer I, Care Innovation, Agentic Care

Responsibilities
- Write, review, and optimize production-ready code while making technical decisions and maintaining a high bar for code quality.
- Lead technical design reviews and author technical designs for complex solutions.
- Use AI tools to support design, tradeoff analysis, delivery, code reviews, and documentation while evaluating outputs critically.
- Identify tasks that can be accelerated with AI and guide junior engineers on responsible AI usage.
- Design and build scalable Ruby on Rails backend services and own provider-facing APIs across profile, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Lead multi-person, multi-sprint projects, coordinating execution, dependencies, tradeoffs, and stakeholder alignment.
- Mentor and develop engineers through code reviews, pairing, and direct coaching.
- Own operational excellence through logging, alerting, monitoring, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and on-call participation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience focused on backend development.
- Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, Python, or an equivalent object-oriented backend language.
- Experience leading technical designs and multi-person engineering projects end-to-end.
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Active use of AI coding tools such as Claude and Copilot, including iterating on prompts and critically reviewing generated code for correctness, security, and standards compliance.
- Commitment to writing well-designed tests with all code.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop earlier-career engineers.
- Comfort working on an agile team and learning evolving AI capabilities.
- Experience integrating AI/ML features or LLM-powered services in production is a bonus.
- Healthcare or regulated-environment experience is a bonus.
