Base Salary
$260k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the Reflex production GPU image-processing engine, including DAG execution, WGSL operators, GPU resource and memory budgets, and color management.
- Ship engine changes through UniFFI and Nitro into Studio Pro on iOS and macOS, including versioning and release management.
- Take imaging capabilities such as RAW development and tiled or gigapixel export from design through production.
- Diagnose and resolve production mobile graphics issues involving memory, cache eviction, HEIC encoding, and editor, batch, and export paths.
- Define and maintain shared Studio Pro render and pipeline contracts across mobile and desktop.
- Mentor Senior engineers toward Staff-level ownership and improve organization-wide design and code review quality.
- Lead engineering force-multiplication through native packaging, CI, shared review and agent workflows, and AI-assisted development.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to establish technical direction and make architecture and delivery tradeoffs.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience and a track record owning a production rendering, imaging, or GPU-compute system.
- Deep GPU and rendering experience covering pipelines, shaders, color, and memory.
- Strong systems-language experience; Rust is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and write shaders using WGSL, Metal, or an equivalent technology.
- Experience bringing imaging or graphics work to mobile, including memory budgets, decode and encode, and thermal or GPU limitations; iOS and Metal experience is preferred.
- Experience taking nascent ideas from 0 to 1 within an existing product and sequencing investments into substantial change.
- Experience mentoring Senior engineers into Staff-level leaders.
- Hands-on experience landing AI-assisted developer workflows, including parallel agents, MCP, and evaluation or review automation.
- Experience with wgpu, WebGPU, or WASM is a plus.
- Experience with native bridges such as UniFFI, JNI, Nitro, or similar, and React Native is a plus.
- Photographic imaging experience involving RAW, color management, LUTs, or film emulation is a plus.
- On-device or cloud ML experience in creative tools, such as segmentation or style transfer, is a plus.
