
Principal Software Engineer, Backend (Connectivity)

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of core integration capabilities and scalable connectivity solutions across MuleSoft, Salesforce, and Agentforce.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Set technical direction and help shape long-term strategy and team growth.
- Drive innovation through new ideas, improved processes, and experimentation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams while promoting coding, design, and architecture best practices.
- Design and build APIs, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven systems.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and identify opportunities to improve product quality, performance, and reliability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and operating production-grade software systems.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, or comparable languages and frameworks for scalable backend systems.
- Hands-on experience designing and building APIs, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven systems.
- Experience working with large codebases and influencing design decisions across teams.
- Ability to evaluate architecture, performance, and operational stability holistically.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to triage complex issues.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and work effectively with engineers, designers, and product teams.
- Preferred experience with the MuleSoft platform, including Anypoint Studio, Mule Runtime, and Anypoint Connectors.
- Preferred expertise in the Salesforce platform, including Apex, Lightning Components, and Salesforce APIs.
- Preferred experience with performance tuning, memory management, and resource optimization in distributed environments.
- Preferred familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, large language models, RAG architecture, and AI integration into developer workflows.

- Base salary ranges from $197,300 to $313,700 annually, or $237,700 to $344,700 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan-area locations.
