Base Salary
$225k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own operator-facing test station software, test sequence orchestration, hardware instrument control, and data logging.
- Translate EE-defined test procedures into repeatable automated test sequences and own the corresponding test requirements.
- Define and validate the interface between test stations and production firmware, including test modes, diagnostic hooks, required data, and station capabilities.
- Design firmware update and recovery processes for production environments.
- Own factory device provisioning, certification, and security workflows, including secure boot verification, key provisioning, certificate injection, serial number assignment, and configuration locking.
- Deploy and qualify test stations with contract manufacturers in Asia and debug production issues on the manufacturing floor.
- Establish test data pipelines, yield tracking, reporting, and statistical analysis infrastructure.
- Improve test throughput, coverage, and first-pass yield using collected and analyzed production data.
- Lead the Manufacturing Test Station & Firmware team while remaining deeply involved in technical execution.
- Travel frequently to Taiwan and other Asian locations, including extended stays during NPI and production ramp.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in manufacturing test systems, ATE, or production software, including test stations shipped and operated at production volume.
- Fluency in Python or an equivalent scripting language for test automation, instrument control, and data processing.
- Experience with DFT analysis, ICT/FCT development, EOL sequence design, fixture collaboration, and sustaining across the factory test lifecycle.
- Hands-on statistical analysis of factory test data to guide process decisions.
- Strong systems design ability to architect test station frameworks across multiple products and manufacturing sites.
- Ability to convert EE-defined procedures into precise, automatable requirements and own the requirements documentation.
- Direct on-site experience managing contract-manufacturer relationships.
- Willingness to make 4–8 international trips per year, primarily to Taiwan, including extended NPI stays.
- Clear English communication between Palo Alto and Taiwan; Mandarin or Taiwanese communication is a plus.
- Sufficient embedded firmware expertise to make direct firmware changes when needed.
