Responsibilities
- Lead the Data Products team and provide technical leadership alongside the Product Owner.
- Engage with subject matter experts to understand data domains, sources, modelling processes, analytics, and client-facing uses.
- Design and develop foundational data products on the internal Data and Processing Platform.
- Own domain data products and supporting processes, including their quality, adoption, reliability, and evolution.
- Define data contracts, schemas, versioning strategies, data governance workflows, and backward-compatible interfaces.
- Drive engineering practices that embed quality, reliability, and observability into data products.
- Participate throughout the agile development lifecycle and improve team and product processes.
Requirements
- Practical experience as a senior or lead engineer designing and curating data products in high-performing teams.
- Strong experience with Python for data and application engineering, including domain modelling and application programming.
- Expert knowledge of data management technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and Databricks.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure, and data lakehouse architectures.
- Experience designing and implementing technical data governance strategies focused on data quality and discoverable metadata.
- Practical knowledge of data-mesh or data-product-oriented architectures.
- Ability to solve complex problems, evaluate engineering approaches, and communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
