Responsibilities

  • Build high-volume, low-latency card transaction engines with high availability and resilience.
  • Architect distributed, fault-tolerant ledger systems capable of handling millions of peak daily transactions.
  • Design and maintain scalable Java and Spring Boot backend services in multi-region cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with Staff Engineers and Product Managers to align regional business needs with global technical roadmaps.
  • Mentor engineers in the São Paulo hub and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
  • Document architectural decisions, lead technical discovery, and drive consensus on complex system designs.
  • Use observability and performance practices to identify bottlenecks, improve reliability, and optimize cloud operations.

Requirements

  • Deep professional experience designing, building, and maintaining complex distributed backend systems with modern Java and Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on experience operating microservices at scale in major cloud environments, ideally AWS, including high availability, multi-region deployments, and database optimization.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes or EKS and Terraform/Terragrunt for infrastructure management.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring mid-level and senior engineers and leading complex technical discovery.
  • Fluency in English and active participation in the local technology community.
  • Preferred experience with card issuing, acquiring, ledger engines, real-time payment rails such as Pix, or banking compliance structures such as BACEN regulations.
  • Preferred familiarity with Datadog or similar observability suites, performance tuning, cloud-cost optimization, data consistency, distributed locks, and high-throughput streaming with Kafka or RabbitMQ.
