Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test APIs supporting Rakuten Card’s customer-facing website and mobile application.
- Implement internal operational improvements and additional service features.
- Use AI during development to improve productivity, security, and quality.
- Contribute to cloud lift-and-shift initiatives and API gateway building or operations when applicable.
- Collaborate with domestic, offshore, and outsourced development members, including teams in Vietnam and India.
- Apply automated testing and related practices to improve software quality.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of Java development experience using Java 8 or later.
- Experience developing with Java EE, especially JPA.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs.
- Experience implementing quality improvements through automated testing and related practices.
- Basic knowledge of source control tools such as Git and GitHub.
- Experience with Agile development is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux servers, databases and SQL, and TCP/IP networking is preferred.
- Development experience with Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket is preferred.
- Experience building and operating an API gateway is preferred.
- Experience with cloud lift-and-shift initiatives for assigned services or products is preferred.
- Advanced Japanese language proficiency is required, listed as Japanese Overall level 3.
