Software Engineer I, IQ Grow
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-performing, flexible, and scalable solutions for restaurant guest experiences.
- Ship features end to end from design through rollout, monitor their success, and iterate based on real-world use.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
- Use AI tools to improve development workflows, velocity, and team productivity.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-ownership engineering team.
Requirements
- Experience with Kotlin or Java delivering impactful products.
- Ability to read and integrate with frontend applications and willingness to work across the stack when needed.
- Interest in AI-assisted development and LLM-based agents, including tools such as Claude Code.
- Strong software development fundamentals, including code quality, unit testing, and clean code.
- Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and ship usable software incrementally.
- Clear communication and strong collaboration skills with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Curiosity, adaptability, a growth mindset, and interest in developing broader ownership.
