Base Salary
$143k - $304k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build LLM-powered agents that translate engineering intent into implementation, testing, code review, and remediation workflows.
- Design orchestration, tool interfaces, context retrieval, durable state, ownership, and recovery for repository and build-system workflows.
- Create agent evaluations and regression tests, debug model and tool failures, and optimize quality, reliability, latency, and cost.
- Implement secure, bounded, observable, and attributable agent execution with scoped permissions, approvals, and human review.
- Deliver cross-team integrations from validation through adoption and measure verified task completion, review usefulness, intervention, rework, cycle time, defects, and cost.
- Set technical direction, write and review code and tests, simplify architecture, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: Master's degree and 8+ years of experience, or bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience building and delivering LLM-powered applications or agents that use tools and execute multi-step workflows.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in coding, debugging, automated testing, abstraction, interfaces, and maintainability.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems or cloud services with state management, observability, security, reliability, and recovery from partial failures.
- Experience evaluating agent behavior using task-level tests, traces, and failure analysis.
- Principal-level technical leadership across teams, including architecture, influence without direct authority, and mentoring.
- Experience with multi-agent coordination, durable workflow execution, repository-aware context retrieval, model routing, developer tools, build and test infrastructure, CI integrations, automated code review, or repair workflows.
- Experience with extensibility frameworks, plugin architectures, protocol design, declarative programming models, manifest-driven extensibility, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, or similar agentic platforms.
- Experience scaling AI-powered engineering workflows and connecting agent usage to measurable engineering outcomes.
