Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for AI-native engineering workflows and platform capabilities.
- Analyze software development workflows and identify opportunities for agents, automation, and shared engineering capabilities.
- Design, prototype, and build production-grade agent-driven workflows, services, and tools spanning planning, implementation, testing, review, deployment, operations, and learning.
- Establish engineering standards, interfaces, design documents, and reusable implementation patterns for other teams.
- Evaluate AI development tools, models, and platforms for reliability, security, quality, cost, performance, and human oversight.
- Lead technical incubation from testable hypothesis through production adoption, scaling, redirection, or discontinuation based on measurable results.
- Identify and evolve common foundations and platform capabilities, then help scale and operate them.
- Own operational readiness, observability, security, reliability, performance, cost, incident response, and continuous improvement for production capabilities.
- Influence technical direction across engineering organizations, resolve dependencies, align stakeholders, mentor engineers, and improve engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of technical engineering experience, or a master's degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Proven success leading the architecture and delivery of complex production systems or developer platforms across multiple teams and technical domains.
- Hands-on experience using generative AI models, coding agents, and engineering platforms to build production software, including judgment about evaluation, reliability, security, and human oversight.
- Experience improving engineering execution at organizational scale through developer workflows, engineering systems, operating practices, or developer experience with measurable outcomes.
- Deep technical expertise in areas such as cloud platforms, distributed systems, developer tooling, identity and security, observability, CI/CD, testing infrastructure, or safe deployment.
- Experience building and operating developer products, AI-enabled engineering workflows, internal developer platforms, paved roads, developer tooling, or cloud infrastructure in complex brownfield environments.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, make architecture and engineering tradeoffs, take capabilities from 0-to-1 through production operation, align senior stakeholders, mentor engineers, and drive change without direct authority.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is USD $142,800-$274,800 per year; a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range is USD $188,000-$304,200 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position will remain open for a minimum of 5 days and accept applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
