Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision, architecture, and strategy for Stord’s AI platform.
- Design and build agent orchestration, tool systems, prompt management, integration APIs, and other core platform components.
- Develop hands-on in the TypeScript stack using Hono, Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, D1, Drizzle, and the AI SDK with Anthropic Claude.
- Build scope-aware tools that expose orders, inventory, and knowledge-base capabilities to AI agents.
- Design fault-tolerant integrations with downstream services, including Elixir/Phoenix APIs, with graceful degradation.
- Integrate ML model outputs through API layers as requirements evolve.
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, release decisions, architecture guidance, and technical quality standards.
- Mentor engineers at all levels and help senior engineers become more autonomous technical decision-makers.
- Establish effective AI-assisted development practices and create reusable abstractions, documentation, and developer tooling.
- Partner with Product Management, engineering leadership, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and product engineering teams on AI strategy and adoption.
- Proactively identify technical risks and opportunities and communicate technical decisions to stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of production TypeScript experience and comfort owning a large TypeScript codebase.
- Experience designing stateful distributed systems at the edge; Cloudflare Workers or Durable Objects experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience building and shipping agentic or LLM-powered features in production, including prompt engineering, tool or function calling, and context management.
- Experience consuming or integrating with event streaming systems such as Redpanda or Kafka; Redpanda Connect or Kafka Connect experience is a plus.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong SQL fundamentals and experience with D1, SQLite, or PostgreSQL; Drizzle ORM experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Cloudflare, GCP, or AWS and understanding of serverless and edge deployment models.
- Experience instrumenting production systems with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar observability tools.
- Strong technical judgment, architecture ownership, communication, influence, mentoring, and accountability skills.
- Ability to use and teach directed AI-assisted development practices while maintaining independent technical judgment.
- Elixir/Phoenix familiarity, broader Cloudflare platform experience, Anthropic Claude or AI SDK experience, Model Context Protocol familiarity, logistics or e-commerce knowledge, open-source contributions, WebSocket experience, and scope-based authorization or multi-tenant systems experience are preferred.
