Responsibilities
- Set technical direction across Europe’s product surface area and translate product strategy into engineering roadmaps.
- Remain hands-on by owning high-leverage projects, prototyping, and addressing difficult technical problems.
- Own technical excellence through design reviews, architectural decisions, and code quality standards.
- Partner with the Engineering Manager and Product Manager on prioritization, tradeoffs, and execution.
- Coordinate with US engineering and platform teams to align European requirements and leverage shared infrastructure.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including experience serving as a technical lead on a product engineering team.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Python, or similar backend languages.
- Experience operating and scaling highly available production systems to a four-nines reliability standard.
- Demonstrated delegation skills and the ability to enable senior engineers to own technical direction.
- Strong product engineering judgment and the ability to translate product strategy into clear engineering roadmaps.
- Preferred: payments infrastructure or processing experience.
- Preferred: experience working across time zones with distributed engineering teams.
- Preferred: fintech or financial infrastructure experience in areas such as credit, lending, or identity.
- Preferred: familiarity with open banking APIs and bank connectivity patterns.
