Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, test, debug, integrate, implement, and maintain mainframe solutions.
- Support batch processing systems, online transaction processing, service-enabled integrations, production operations, and break/fix implementations.
- Develop program specifications and make source-code, JCL, batch-cycle, and configuration changes.
- Perform unit, system, integration, production, and post-deployment stabilization activities.
- Analyze production incidents and outages, perform impact assessments, support recovery, and contribute to root cause analysis and recurring-issue prevention.
- Participate in quality-management reviews, peer code reviews, release processes, and enterprise engineering controls.
- Identify and implement automation, modernization, efficiency, performance, risk, audit, compliance, and governance improvements.
- Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, incidents, and technical recommendations to engineering, infrastructure, operations, business, and other stakeholders.
- Use Git and enterprise source-control, change-management, release-management, and deployment practices.
- Use AI-assisted development tools or comparable automation for software analysis, development, testing, documentation, or troubleshooting while validating generated outputs.
Requirements
- 7+ years of application development experience covering end-to-end design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.
- Hands-on experience with mainframe application design and development, including COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and batch processing frameworks.
- Experience delivering enterprise applications involving mainframe solutions, batch processing, online transaction processing, and service-enabled integrations.
- Proficiency with the mandatory mainframe and integration technology stack, including IMS DB/DC, SAS, CA-7, SQL, IBM OS/390, z/OS, TSO, ISPF, QMF, SPUFI, CLIST, File-Aid, TIBCO, NDM, FTP, Endevor, Test Sets, ServiceNow, Microservice, and API.
- Proficiency with Git and familiarity with enterprise source-control, change-management, release-management, and deployment practices in regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of relevant business domains, mainframe platforms, development tools, engineering frameworks, processes, and procedures.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, infrastructure, operations, business, and stakeholder teams.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools or comparable automation with sound judgment in validating outputs.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Java, Angular, VBScript, Spring, and HTML5 experience is nice to have.
- Financial-services or customer-focused service-industry experience is preferred.
