Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Embed with Labs and R&D during invention and specification to identify product models, risks, and questions before implementation.
- Design and execute chartered, time-boxed exploratory testing sessions and lead structured debriefs.
- Investigate critical failure modes involving multi-tenant isolation, configuration interactions, concurrency, lifecycle transitions, integration timing, observability, and long-horizon behavior.
- Maintain risk catalogues, coverage and testability maps, and failure-story documentation across policy, claims, partner integration, and regulatory workflows.
- Report bugs, risks, questions about intent, and obstacles to testing with appropriate context and follow-up.
- Partner with Product, Labs, and Engineering on Example Mapping, Specification-by-Example, Definition of Ready, observability, controllability, and test oracles.
- Build and use tools for data generation, state manipulation, differential comparison, log and trace analysis, property-based techniques, high-volume testing, and oracle construction.
- Investigate AI-generated code, tests, and agentic workflow output for mismatches, variation, state consistency, auditability, and regression detection.
- Coach Quality Engineers, SDETs, engineers, and product managers in risk modeling, exploratory sessions, note-taking, and actionable reporting.
- Produce testing stories and risk evidence for release readiness, Labs-to-Engineering transitions, rollback validation, and canary strategy.
- Supply failure hypotheses to performance, resilience, disaster recovery, accessibility, security, and chaos-testing efforts.
- Strengthen testing records for regulators and auditors and escalate compliance findings precisely.
Requirements
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience with progressively increasing responsibility in software testing and test automation.
- Approximately 8+ years of relevant testing experience is typical, although demonstrated skill is prioritized over a specific number of years.
- Strong exploratory testing practice, including modeling, coverage, oracles, heuristics, chartering, note-taking, test framing, safety language, and bug advocacy.
- Training or grounding in Rapid Software Testing, BBST, or an equivalent approach is valued.
- Deep risk-analysis ability, including producing specific and arguable failure stories in unfamiliar systems.
- Experience with decision logic and configuration-driven behavior such as rules engines, eligibility or underwriting logic, pricing or calculation engines, and multi-tenant configuration variation.
- Track record of finding issues missed by green automated suites and explaining the investigation process.
- Experience building organizational testing capability as a consultant, coach, or practice lead.
- Exceptional written communication for engineers, executives, auditors, and regulators.
- Ability to influence without formal authority and deliver unwelcome findings constructively.
- Comfort using Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot as part of a daily workflow while critically evaluating their output.
- Willingness to demonstrate work such as session notes, bug reports, or test strategies.
