Senior Software Engineer - Java, Officer
State StreetResponsibilities
- Design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex enterprise software enhancements, applications, and platform solutions.
- Deliver complex application architectures and platforms into production, including modifications to core frameworks and critical system facilities.
- Develop software using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and related programming languages.
- Design and develop cloud-native and microservice-based services and work with message-based systems.
- Write unit and automation tests, conduct manual testing, and improve development and test methodologies.
- Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, code review analysis, and advanced troubleshooting for mission-critical client implementations.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Managers, team leaders, and cross-team groups to solve complex business and technical problems.
- Participate in Scrum activities including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to design, API, and customer documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 9 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience is required.
- At least 3 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology is required.
- Strong enterprise application architecture, platform-based solution design, object-oriented programming, and high-complexity problem-solving experience.
- Experience with Spring Boot, microservice architectures, cloud-native services, Kubernetes, Kafka, and message-based systems.
- Experience with relational databases and high-performance, multi-tier database applications; Postgres SQL experience is preferred.
- Azure experience is a bonus, and Snowflake experience is a strong asset.
- At least 3 years of financial-services software development experience in areas such as portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management is strongly desired.
- Experience with compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, scripting, and advanced programming languages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers.
