Base Salary
$120k - $141k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable backend applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures for reliable, high-volume business applications.
- Apply secure engineering practices covering authentication, authorization, API security, resiliency, and data protection.
- Build unit and automated tests, support CI/CD and automated deployments, and use containerization and cloud-native development practices.
- Provide technical leadership through solution design, implementation, production support, code reviews, and development standards.
- Troubleshoot complex application and production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, engineering teams, and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Modernize applications, reduce technical debt, automate development processes, and improve engineering efficiency.
- Mentor engineers and participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, technical discussions, estimation, planning, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Five to six years of relevant experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security for backend application development.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and scalable backend services.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases; NoSQL experience is a plus.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-driven and messaging technologies.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, and Maven or Gradle.
- Strong experience with unit and automated testing, including JUnit and Mockito.
- Experience with Node, NPM, and React for secure front-end code is preferred.
- Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, and secure API development.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar generative AI coding tools.
- Familiarity with responsible and secure use of AI-assisted development tools around proprietary or sensitive code.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments; banking, financial services, payments, or other regulated-environment experience is a plus.
