Base Salary
$152k - $244k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain FAIR-compliant data pipelines for chemical, biological, high-throughput experimentation, and automation-generated datasets.
- Develop APIs and services connecting LIMS, ELNs, instruments, data warehouses, and analytical databases.
- Build MLOps capabilities including experiment tracking, model versioning, containerized serving, monitoring, drift detection, and retraining.
- Develop agent-ready APIs, MCP servers or similar infrastructure, and software for closed-loop experimentation.
- Integrate laboratory automation equipment, scheduling systems, and instrument data streams with Data Foundry infrastructure.
- Create configurable automation workflow components, scientist-facing applications, dashboards, and workflow tools.
- Prototype solutions with bench scientists, validate them through feedback, and transition mature systems to Tech@Lilly.
- Build and operate cloud-native, containerized workflows using infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, workflow orchestration, security scanning, code review, and automated testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, cheminformatics, chemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Scientific software development experience with a minimum of 10+ years for a bachelor's, 5+ years for a master's, or 1+ year for a PhD.
- Proficiency in Python and at least one of Java, C#, Go, TypeScript, or Rust, plus strong SQL skills.
- Experience building RESTful APIs, data pipelines, or services for scientific or technical applications.
- Preferred experience includes pharmaceutical or biotech discovery workflows, MLOps, cloud platforms, containers, Git, AI agent infrastructure, lab automation, cheminformatics or bioinformatics, data warehousing, scientific standards and ontologies, LIMS/ELNs, instrument integration, workflow orchestration, CI/CD, and Linux/bash scripting.
- Strong communication, scientist collaboration, learning agility, and willingness to adopt new technologies are preferred.
