Responsibilities

  • Build pipeline tools and scripts using Python, UEFN/Verse, and DCC scripting APIs to automate repetitive artist workflows.
  • Profile arenas and assets in engine and help optimize draw calls, overdraw, texture memory, LODs, and vertex budgets.
  • Author and iterate on real-time materials and shaders for Rocket League surfaces.
  • Move assets from Maya, Blender, or Substance into optimized Unreal Engine setups and validate them in playable builds.
  • Collaborate with technical artists, rendering engineers, and environment artists to resolve issues and document findings.
  • Present work in art reviews and playtests, incorporate feedback, and iterate quickly.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Technical Art, Computer Science, Digital Media, or Game Development program, or able to substitute a strong portfolio.
  • Scripting experience in Python, C#, or a DCC scripting API.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one 3D package, such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender, and the Substance suite.
  • Working knowledge of Unreal Engine.
  • Understanding of real-time rendering fundamentals, including lighting, shading, UV layout, texture memory, and polygon budgets.
  • A portfolio or reel demonstrating technical art work such as tools, shaders, procedural systems, or optimization case studies.
  • Preferred experience includes Unreal Insights, RenderDoc, PIX, HLSL, Houdini, or shipping to mobile or console.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the posting location for the duration of the internship.
