Base Salary
$240k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services for ordering, planning, production, inventory, and fulfillment.
- Lead development across multiple technical areas and support contributing engineering teams.
- Create cross-system technical designs, including event models, service boundaries, and data contracts.
- Build scalable integrations with inventory, warehouse, and third-party supplier systems.
- Establish robust error-handling and system-resilience patterns.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and set standards through code reviews and architectural decisions.
- Lead design reviews and postmortems toward systemic fixes.
- Develop solutions that improve network throughput, inventory accuracy, and cost.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- 9+ years of backend software engineering experience, including staff-level or equivalent scope.
- Strong system design skills and experience architecting, shipping, and operating production services.
- Deep proficiency in at least one JVM language, primarily Kotlin at Wonder.
- Experience owning a technical domain end to end, from data modeling through production operations.
- Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives through influence rather than authority.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for complex technical challenges.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising engineering standards.
- Excellent communication skills for technical discussions with product, design, and operations partners.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Preferred experience includes supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management systems; event sourcing and CQRS; event schema design, replay, and projection rebuilds; Kotlin and the JVM ecosystem; gRPC service implementation; inventory management, production planning and scheduling, demand forecasting, and large-scale operational datasets.
