Responsibilities
- Architect, own, and maintain the end-to-end technical lifecycle of complex federal enterprise deployments and their environments.
- Work with customer engineering and go-to-market teams to define deployment scope and ensure compliance with security controls and federal regulations.
- Provide technical expertise on deployment, security, and platform architecture for strategic deployments.
- Contribute directly to the core codebase to improve deployability, operability, and reliability across varied environments.
- Translate customer pain points and field learnings into product requirements, solutions, and implementation plans.
- Build product extensions, integrations, and automation using Cognition APIs and platform primitives.
- Connect the Federal team with core infrastructure engineering teams.
- Handle escalated technical issues and provide architectural judgment through deep debugging and systems analysis.
- Help shape the technical direction, engineering practices, technical stack, culture, and growth of the federal engineering organization.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a software engineer.
- Strong engineering foundation with demonstrated ability to build, debug, and maintain complex distributed systems.
- Experience working within the government or at a government-focused company.
- Direct experience implementing compliance and security controls for federal or highly regulated environments.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or a similar language, with comfort navigating unfamiliar codebases.
- A track record of pursuing excellence at high levels in any domain.
- Experience operating cross-functionally, such as by wearing multiple hats at a startup or driving product and commercial thinking at a larger company.
- Experience building or contributing to software at companies known for engineering rigor is advantageous.
- Ability to handle ambiguous, autonomous, intense, and mission-critical work is advantageous.
