Base Salary
$163k - $226k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and document core client-side networking software.
- Develop connectivity features between clients, subnet routers, exit nodes, and customer network infrastructure.
- Apply networking protocols and Tailscale-specific designs and frameworks to advance product features.
- Optimize software performance, reliability, and scalability across diverse platforms and hardware.
- Provide architectural guidance and resolve complex escalated customer network issues.
- Support customer success teams with critical network escalations.
- Collaborate with product management and internal engineering teams on integrated network solutions.
- Contribute to the open-source community and relevant projects.
Requirements
- Significant experience developing networking software and diagnosing networking issues.
- Comprehensive knowledge of routing, VPNs, IP address management, and NAT traversal.
- Proficiency in Go or another low-level language such as C, C++, or Rust.
- Strong understanding of concurrent programming and performance optimization.
- Large-scale distributed-systems experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of low-level operating-system network stacks is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate with technical teams, and give and receive constructive feedback.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic startup environment.
