Base Salary
$180k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve shared native mobile architecture across iOS and Android, including navigation, state management, networking, offline strategies, error handling, and modularisation.
- Own shared mobile libraries and frameworks for design systems, analytics, feature flags, experimentation, authentication, payments, and observability.
- Own application authentication and authorization mechanisms and ensure platform components are stable, documented, and extensible.
- Drive mobile security, including anti-tampering measures, certificate pinning, and security best practices.
- Improve crash-free sessions, ANRs, app start-up time, bundle size, network performance, reliability, and end-to-end observability.
- Own and improve mobile CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, templates, documentation, and automation.
- Manage the end-to-end iOS and Android release process and lead the on-call rotation for critical platform incidents.
- Define and enforce mobile engineering best practices and lead cross-squad technical initiatives from problem definition through rollout and adoption.
- Write clean, testable, well-structured code on iOS or Android while mentoring engineers through design reviews, pairing, and coaching.
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and the growth of Airwallex’s mobile engineering community.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of experience building native iOS or Android applications, including at least 3+ years at Senior or Staff level.
- Deep expertise in iOS or Android technologies and commercial knowledge of both platforms.
- Proven experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and evolving mobile architectures, including areas such as modularisation, design systems, networking, or offline support.
- Strong focus on code quality, reliability, testability, maintainability, automated testing, and meaningful coverage.
- Experience owning and improving mobile CI/CD pipelines, build optimisation, test stability, and release workflows.
- Ability to influence without authority and align engineers, product managers, and designers around technical direction and trade-offs.
- Bachelor ’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience defining mobile platform roadmaps, owning shared mobile libraries or frameworks, and working with mobile design systems, analytics, experimentation, feature flags, and observability tooling.
- Preferred experience in payments, fintech, or B2B SaaS; mentoring senior engineers; hiring and growing mobile teams; or contributing to the mobile community.
