Base Salary
$197k - $345k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering development of Slack mobile experiences used by millions of users across multiple teams.
- Drive ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives from technical exploration through production rollout and ongoing evolution.
- Prototype features that define the mobile user experience for major product opportunities.
- Partner with Product and Design to balance user needs, technical constraints, and maintainability.
- Influence engineering decisions through technical leadership, product reviews, mentorship, and organizational alignment.
- Set and promote best practices for mobile feature development and operational excellence.
- Mentor senior engineers and support the broader mobile engineering community.
Requirements
- A related technical degree is required.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience building complex Android applications at scale.
- Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development.
- Strong understanding of Android architecture, application lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Proven ability to start initiatives, prototype paths to production, and lead ambiguous, organization-spanning technical programs.
- Experience working in fast-paced startup, incubator, or zero-to-one environments.
- Ability to influence product and technical direction across executive stakeholders and Engineering, Product, Design, and multiple teams.
- Preferred experience with Jetpack Compose, modern Android architecture patterns, Combine Concurrency, async/await, actors, and dependency injection frameworks such as Needle and Resolver.
- Preferred experience leading large-scale products or transformations, using research and experimentation, contributing to open source or the Android community, or building collaboration, productivity, messaging, AI, or enterprise software.
- Strong communication skills, product intuition, ownership, execution, and commitment to exceptional user experiences.
