Responsibilities
- Lead engineering development of Slack mobile experiences used by millions of users.
- Lead complex, ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives from technical exploration through production rollout and ongoing evolution.
- Prototype new mobile features and help define user experiences for major product opportunities.
- Partner with Product and Design to balance user needs, technical constraints, and maintainability.
- Influence engineering decisions through technical leadership, product reviews, and mentorship.
- Set and promote best practices for mobile feature development and operational excellence.
- Mentor senior engineers and contribute to the broader mobile engineering community.
Requirements
- A related technical degree is required.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Significant experience building complex, high-quality Android applications at scale.
- Proven ability to start new initiatives, prototype paths to production, and align organizations around them.
- Experience leading large, ambiguous, organization-spanning technical initiatives with significant business impact.
- Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development.
- Strong understanding of Android architecture, application lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Ability to influence product and technical direction across executive stakeholders, engineering, product, design leadership, and multiple teams.
- Preferred: experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android architecture patterns.
- Preferred: experience with Combine Concurrency, async/await, actors, and dependency injection frameworks such as Needle and Resolver.
- Preferred: experience leading large-scale new products, features, or product transformations.
- Preferred: experience using research, usability testing, data, and experimentation to guide decisions.
- Preferred: open-source or Android community contributions or other external recognition of technical leadership.
- Preferred: experience building collaboration, productivity, messaging, AI, or enterprise software products.
- Excellent communication skills, strong product intuition, and a passion for exceptional user experiences.

- The stated typical base salary range is $197,300-$313,700 annually; select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan locations have a $237,700-$344,700 annual range.
