Base Salary
$221k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction and execution of Android experiences supporting retailers and shoppers across the order-picking lifecycle.
- Design, build, test, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and RxJava.
- Own projects from technical discovery through delivery while balancing retailer priorities with long-term platform health, scalability, and maintainability.
- Improve application performance, reliability, observability, and developer experience through profiling, instrumentation, architectural improvements, and technical debt reduction.
- Partner with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, iOS Engineering, retailers, external vendors, and other internal teams to define and deliver solutions.
- Facilitate design discussions, mentor engineers, establish engineering practices, and provide technical leadership across the organization.
- Contribute to initiatives involving new picking models, additional retailers and markets, Android platform investments, and operational scale.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience developing and shipping Android applications.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development practices, including Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and reactive programming with RxJava or an equivalent framework.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional software projects from design through production launch.
- Experience designing maintainable Android architectures and improving performance, reliability, testing, monitoring, or observability.
- Ability to collaborate with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, iOS Engineering, and external stakeholders to deliver customer-facing products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions and communicate risks and tradeoffs.
- Preferred experience with mobile products for retail, logistics, fulfillment, delivery, workforce, or other operational environments.
- Preferred experience supporting multiple product teams, retailers, markets, or high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Preferred experience with Android performance profiling, startup optimization, crash reduction, instrumentation, large-scale observability, shared components, developer tooling, or migrations to modern Android technologies.
- Preferred experience mentoring engineers, influencing technical direction without direct authority, and working with external partners, vendors, or enterprise customers.
