Base Salary
$197k - $345k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering development of Slack mobile experiences used by millions of users across multiple teams.
- Lead complex, ambiguous initiatives from technical exploration through production rollout and long-term evolution.
- Prototype features to define the mobile user experience for major product opportunities.
- Partner with Product and Design to balance user needs, technical constraints, and maintainability.
- Influence engineering decisions through technical leadership, product reviews, and mentorship.
- Set and promote mobile development and operational excellence practices across the engineering organization.
- Mentor senior engineers and contribute to the broader Slack mobile engineering community.
Requirements
- A related technical degree is required.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience building complex Android applications at scale.
- Track record of initiating new efforts, prototyping paths to production, and aligning organizations around new initiatives.
- Experience working in fast-paced startup, incubator, or zero-to-one environments.
- Track record leading large, ambiguous, organization-spanning technical initiatives with significant business impact.
- Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development.
- Strong understanding of Android architecture, application lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Ability to influence product and technical direction and align executive stakeholders and multiple teams.
- Preferred experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android architecture patterns.
- Preferred experience with Combine Concurrency, async/await, actors, and dependency injection frameworks such as Needle and Resolver.
- Preferred experience leading large-scale products, features, or transformations across multiple teams.
- Preferred experience using research, usability testing, data, and experimentation to guide decisions.
- Open source or Android community contributions and experience building collaboration, productivity, messaging, AI, or enterprise software are preferred.
