Base Salary
$123k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on architecture, design, development, testing, and implementation of software solutions.
- Build scalable microservices that integrate with existing American Express platforms and technologies.
- Contribute to user story analysis, application design and development, testing, and automation as part of an Agile team.
- Apply reactive and functional programming concepts and RESTful API design practices.
- Develop low-latency, high-transaction-volume payment systems using Java, Kotlin, NoSQL databases, and distributed messaging technologies.
- Perform performance testing, profiling, and tuning of Java applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and cross-functional stakeholders while exploring new technologies and business concepts.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Kotlin.
- Understanding of reactive and functional programming concepts and RESTful API design principles.
- Experience with NoSQL databases and distributed messaging technologies such as Redis, Kafka, and Couchbase.
- Understanding of security fundamentals and standards including JWE, JWS, JWT, OpenID Connect, and OAuth 2.0.
- Ability to learn new technologies and business domains and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred: 6+ years of software development experience.
- Preferred: knowledge of payments, blockchain, distributed ledger technologies, Web3, Vert.x, native Android or iOS development, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
