Base Salary
$123k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications and systems for card transaction platforms.
- Write code and automated unit tests while working with API specifications and automation.
- Mentor junior software engineers and provide technical guidance on engineering practices and coding standards.
- Monitor software performance, analyze technical challenges, and implement improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, business, and other cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives and support integration and deployment.
- Provide technical leadership and help expand existing and new software capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience using Java, React, Vert.x, Spring, Spark, Postgres, RESTful APIs, Redis, Kafka, and cloud-native application development.
- Experience with application architecture and design, software development, testing, distributed systems, algorithms, NoSQL, and relational databases.
- Experience designing and building AI-powered and agentic AI solutions, including LLM applications, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, orchestration frameworks, vector databases, and AI service integrations.
- Strong engineering, leadership, collaboration, automation testing, documentation, and cross-functional partnership skills.
- Experience with Agile software development practices such as Scrum, Kanban, iterations, and user stories.
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required.
