Senior Software Engineer - Vehicle Experience Services
General MotorsResponsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java microservices with Spring Boot in a cloud-native environment.
- Implement Spring Kafka producers, consumers, error handling, retries, and monitoring.
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations.
- Build Datadog dashboards, metrics, logs, traces, and alerts for owned services.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, operations, security, and engineering teams to deliver vehicle and carrier service features.
- Troubleshoot production issues through log and metric analysis, root-cause investigations, and on-call support.
- Participate in code reviews and improve coding standards, quality, performance, security, and technical documentation.
- Develop automated functional tests and system-level quality assurance.
- Mentor teammates and contribute to planning, estimation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building production-grade services or platforms.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native development, microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, containers, orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
- Experience designing and operating scalable distributed systems with emphasis on reliability, observability, and performance.
- Experience collaborating in agile, cross-functional environments.
- Experience with Spring, Event Hub messaging, and Azure.
- Preferred experience includes Spring Boot, Java, Spring Kafka, PostgreSQL, Azure, Datadog, Python, pytest, Robot/Autobot, Jenkins, Appium, or other automation frameworks.
