Responsibilities
- Design and lead the architectural roadmap for APIs serving live sports and discovery experiences.
- Develop, operate, and continuously improve Coupang Play’s highly available and scalable backend systems.
- Create scalable, low-latency technical solutions that meet product requirements.
- Coordinate technical solutions with cross-functional stakeholders to satisfy business goals and compliance requirements.
- Adopt and apply AI technologies to improve work automation, developer productivity, and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, plus at least two years of server application and systems engineering experience using modern programming languages.
- Deep expertise in building low-latency, high-throughput systems, performance profiling, and optimizing cost/performance trade-offs.
- Proficiency in backend engineering with at least one of Go, Java, JavaScript, or Node.js.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with modern cloud computing environments such as AWS or GCP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: commercial experience building and operating video streaming services and related data systems.
- Preferred: experience integrating mobile applications and APIs with iOS and Android developers and resolving integration issues.
- Preferred: experience using and operating GraphQL.
- Preferred: business-level spoken and written English communication skills.
