Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and improve backend services supporting control planes, user-access management, backup workflows, and other platform capabilities.
- Own features or backend components from implementation through production operation.
- Contribute to service design and API development while balancing correctness, scalability, cost, and maintainability.
- Write and review production-quality code and diagnose and resolve complex backend issues.
- Participate in on-call and operational responsibilities and improve system resiliency through production feedback.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, infrastructure, quality, customer-facing, and other engineering teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and reinforce backend reliability and scalability best practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, equivalent to 48 months.
- Experience building and operating non-trivial production systems, diagnosing issues, and improving implementations based on real-world behavior.
- Ability to translate loosely defined requirements into correct, maintainable technical solutions and make sound technical trade-offs.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language: Go, Python, Java, or Rust.
- Experience owning a component or subsystem within a larger backend or cloud-native platform is preferred.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure and common cloud-native design patterns is preferred.
- Experience with data-intensive systems, object storage, or large-scale backend services is preferred.
- Production experience with backup, disaster recovery, or data protection systems is preferred.
- Strong collaboration, self-direction, shared ownership, and cross-functional communication skills.
