Base Salary
$170k - $195k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship LLM-powered features and agentic workflows in Python and TypeScript from product scoping through production.
- Design evals, guardrails, feedback loops, token budgets, and latency budgets for trustworthy AI features.
- Review and verify code generated by agentic coding tools, identifying correctness, security, and design issues.
- Maintain NLP pipelines combining semantic search, classical NLP, and LLMs to structure unstructured claims data.
- Build and operate durable event-driven services with retries, idempotent handlers, event-sourced state, checkpointed model outputs, and agent steps.
- Trace model calls and agent steps, connect tracing to alerts, and support auditable recommendations with source citations.
- Model and query claims data across relational, document, and graph stores.
- Design tenant isolation, least-privilege access, model-provider data controls, and other privacy and security protections.
- Write technical design documents, obtain team feedback and buy-in, participate in code review, and share on-call responsibility.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience, including a production LLM-powered feature that the candidate shipped and operated.
- Strong Python and TypeScript skills, including typed, tested, asynchronous code and deep expertise in at least one of the languages.
- Experience designing and shipping LLM output evaluations and guardrails.
- Daily production use of Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or a similar agentic coding tool, with the ability to constrain context and verify generated output.
- Experience building pipelines that combine LLMs, semantic search, classical NLP, structured output, tool calling, and embedding-based retrieval.
- Experience with message- or event-driven architectures, long-running workflows, retries, idempotent handlers, event-sourced state, and LLM or agent steps.
- Experience with relational, document, and graph databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, and related partition-key, consistency, and tenant-isolation decisions.
- Backend service development and operations on Azure or AWS, plus exposure to Temporal or the Durable Task Scheduler.
- Experience writing technical design documents that teams used to guide implementation.
- Clear written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences and ability to give and receive code review.
- Preferred: React and TypeScript, CI/CD and infrastructure as code with Terraform or Bicep, LangGraph, Microsoft Agent Framework, MCP, A2A, command-line tools, microservices, LangSmith, Arize, Braintrust, OpenTelemetry, AI feature A/B testing, historical-claims simulations, or insurance, claims, and automotive repair experience.
