Responsibilities

  • Drive technology direction, engineering practices, and long-term technology vision for assigned teams.
  • Translate vague business requirements into concrete technical roadmaps and feasible solutions.
  • Remain hands-on in software development for up to 60% of the role, creating modules and systems that demonstrate engineering best practices.
  • Design architectures and solutions for new and existing problem spaces, owning platform architecture and alignment with long-term requirements.
  • Lead cross-system integration to ensure consistent data flow across ingestion, processing, and delivery systems.
  • Own scaling, performance, quality, technology choices, and adoption of relevant tools.
  • Establish engineering standards for coding guidelines, API contracts, security protocols, and design practices.
  • Drive technology forums and team practices while mentoring and guiding senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, DevOps, and Frontend architects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, and scaling enterprise-grade applications, including solutions built from scratch.
  • In-depth knowledge of messaging queue concepts and proficiency with Java or Python frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.
  • Strong understanding of application development, infrastructure management, data engineering, platform constructs, and SQL and NoSQL data stores.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools and practices, test-driven development, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum, plus strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
