Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services supporting forecasting, recommendations, and Performance Advisor workflows.
- Own services and components through design, deployment, production support, incident resolution, and systemic improvement.
- Build high-throughput, low-latency APIs, event-driven pipelines, data-processing services, and model-integration workflows.
- Develop scalable backend components supporting AI- and machine-learning-driven product capabilities.
- Collaborate with data science, platform, product, and engineering teams to integrate forecasting, recommendation, and AI decisioning capabilities.
- Use AWS, Kafka, Elasticsearch, NoSQL databases, and related technologies to build resilient distributed systems.
- Improve code quality, performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and operational excellence through reviews, testing, debugging, monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
- Participate in incident response and retrospectives, identify technical risks, simplify systems, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- 8–12 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating scalable backend systems.
- Strong hands-on ownership of production services and experience improving performance, reliability, scalability, or cost.
- Expertise in distributed systems design, including service boundaries, concurrency, data modeling, failure handling, and scalability tradeoffs.
- Experience developing high-throughput, event-driven systems and backend APIs.
- Strong experience with AWS, cloud-native system design and operations, Kafka, Elasticsearch, NoSQL databases such as Aerospike, Thrift, and container-based solutions.
- Experience with microservices architectures and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, Ruby, Go, or Scala.
- Experience supporting machine-learning-driven systems, forecasting, recommendations, or similar data-driven applications is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled applications, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows is a plus.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong object-oriented programming, system design, problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and collaborative engineering skills.
