Base Salary

$105k - $145k/yr

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend services and APIs for WHOOP’s member-facing features using Java, Kafka, Postgres, and AWS.
Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and Engineering partners to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
Support production operations and monitoring by troubleshooting issues and improving reliability, scalability, and performance.
Break feature requirements into actionable tasks, identify risks, and iterate quickly.
Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.

Professional backend software development experience, with internship, co-op, or academic project experience accepted.
Experience building or interacting with APIs and relational databases such as Postgres or similar SQL-based systems.
Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language such as Java, or demonstrated ability to learn backend technologies quickly.
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and standard development workflows.
Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and basic system design concepts.
Interest in distributed systems, event-driven architectures such as Kafka, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and continuous-improvement skills.
