Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-performance ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA through database pushdown and efficient data access.
- Create CDS views, associations, annotations, authorization concepts, and reusable enterprise data models for transactional, analytical, integration, and AI retrieval use cases.
- Implement performance-critical logic using AMDP and SQLScript, with appropriate governance and testing.
- Develop modular ABAP code, services, and APIs using modern design, OData exposure patterns, versioning, and contract-first behavior.
- Build AI-enabled SAP experiences using LLM tool calling, retrieval-grounded outputs, deterministic fallbacks, prompt and template design, tool schemas, and context assembly.
- Create automated unit, integration, and contract tests plus AI evaluation harnesses using golden datasets, scenario testing, and monitoring.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware context filtering, redaction, action confirmation, and audit logging.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces; design retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, safe failure modes, runbooks, and structured diagnostics.
- Integrate SAP and non-SAP ecosystems using event-driven patterns, API gateways, and enterprise integration layers.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams to evolve prototypes into secure, compliant, scalable production systems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience is required.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern enterprise data modeling, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown.
- Strong software engineering discipline, including clean design, testing, and production readiness.
- Ability to build AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Experience with OData or service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is strongly beneficial.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is strongly beneficial.
- Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, query-plan-driven tuning, SAP security, authorizations, and compliance requirements is strongly beneficial.
