Staff Engineer – Experimentation Team

Base Salary
$183k - $295k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build the experimentation statistical engine for hypothesis testing, sequential analysis, variance reduction, power analysis, and statistical correctness.
- Design warehouse-native experimentation analysis across Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, and BigQuery using modular, warehouse-agnostic abstractions.
- Lead adaptive experimentation systems, including contextual bandits, Bayesian optimization, and automated allocation.
- Drive the platform roadmap with product, design, and data science partners.
- Collaborate with Warehouse Integrations, SDK, Platform, and Data Science teams.
- Mentor engineers and raise standards for statistical rigor and system design.
- Own monitoring, observability, incident response, on-call responsibilities, telemetry, and alerting.
Requirements
- 10+ years building large-scale experimentation platforms, statistical analysis systems, or data-intensive backend services.
- Strong applied-statistics knowledge covering hypothesis testing, sequential analysis, variance reduction, power analysis, experiment design, and frequentist versus Bayesian trade-offs.
- Experience with adaptive experimentation machine learning, including contextual bandits, Thompson sampling, Bayesian optimization, or reinforcement-learning-based allocation.
- Experience designing warehouse-agnostic systems across Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar platforms.
- Expertise in Go, Python, or a similar language for backend services and statistical computation.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and large-scale data processing.
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS and GCP and infrastructure-as-code.
- Technical leadership experience setting direction, breaking down complex problems, and influencing across teams.
- Ability to explain statistical concepts to product and engineering audiences.
