Responsibilities
- Lead major initiatives from discovery through design, implementation, and rollout.
- Design and build complex workflows and data-heavy interfaces for internal and customer-facing applications.
- Build sample creation, customer access management, delivery export, browsing, streaming, and evaluation workflows.
- Develop end-to-end features across UI, APIs, data models, and tests.
- Optimize multimodal dataset experiences through streaming playback, previews, lazy loading, pagination, caching, and large-scale exports.
- Build user interfaces over embedding-based search for multimillion-item catalogs.
- Make client-side, route-handler, and backend-service architecture decisions and collaborate across squad boundaries.
- Implement scoped access, secure share links, and PHI-aware routes for sensitive data.
- Establish quality, performance, design consistency, and UX standards through testing, code review, and reusable design-system components.
- Lead design discussions and unblock other engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years building production web applications used by real customers.
- Deep TypeScript and React experience, with Next.js or a comparable full-stack framework in production.
- Experience shipping user-facing features end to end, including UI, APIs, data models, and tests.
- Strong design judgment and the ability to independently design complex workflows and detailed interfaces.
- Backend fundamentals including API design, Postgres, authentication, permission modeling, and cloud services.
- Experience building data-heavy or media-heavy interfaces with streaming, pagination, caching, and selective loading.
- Experience working directly with users to shape product decisions.
- Nice to have media playback experience with HTML5 video/audio, HLS, containers, and codecs.
- Nice to have experience with embeddings or vector search, design systems across multiple applications, Clerk, HIPAA/PHI data, or startup and early-engineer work.
- A portfolio, side projects, or shipped work demonstrating design taste is a plus.
