Base Salary

$217k - $281k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end robot network and controls system architecture, integrating perception, compute, control, and safety systems.
  • Provide technical direction to architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams designing robotic subsystems.
  • Lead trade studies and architecture reviews covering performance, functional safety, complexity, manufacturability, cost, and reliability.
  • Partner with controls and simulation teams to ground architecture decisions in system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with software, systems engineering, test, and integration teams to create testable and traceable requirements.
  • Influence product roadmaps by translating user needs, field performance, and R&D findings into architectural improvements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of robotics platform software development as a senior or lead engineer.
  • 5+ years of controls system development as a senior or lead engineer.
  • 3+ years of network and compute system development as a senior or lead engineer.
  • 3+ years of firmware development spanning bare-metal systems through network integration.
  • Deep understanding of robotic system design tradeoffs involving cost, power, heat, sensing, compute, and safety.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex electromechanical robotic systems from ideation through production and field or commercial deployment.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering, robot kinematics, dynamics, controls, and system modeling.
  • Familiarity with functional safety, product functional-safety certifications, FMEA/FMECA, and hazard analysis in robotic systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience influencing multidisciplinary decisions.
  • Preferred experience includes humanoid, legged mobility, mobile manipulation, or high-degree-of-freedom automation platforms; perception pipelines; real-time control; safety-rated architectures; GitHub; MuJoCo; Gazebo; AI and reinforcement learning; and mentoring engineers.
  • A PhD or master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field is a bonus qualification.
