Base Salary

$296k - $375k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the multi-year technical roadmap for data services and platform capabilities.
  • Provide architectural guidance, influence engineering strategy, and represent the organization in technical reviews.
  • Design and build highly available, scalable, and resilient data systems for batch and real-time event-driven workflows.
  • Establish reusable primitives and architectural patterns for data ingestion, processing, storage, and delivery.
  • Define standards for trusted, discoverable, high-quality data products, schemas, lineage, and contracts.
  • Partner with product, security, infrastructure, and AI/ML stakeholders to translate requirements into durable solutions.
  • Resolve complex scaling challenges and mentor senior engineering staff across multiple teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of experience designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems or data platforms.
  • Experience with data services, cloud platforms, distributed storage, data processing, and service-oriented architectures.
  • Programming experience in one or more of Java, Go, Python, or C++.
  • Preferred: experience building and scaling multi-tenant SaaS or enterprise data platforms from early-stage design through global production.
  • Preferred: proficiency with Kubernetes, Kafka, Flink, Spark, object storage, lakehouse architectures, and distributed SQL engines.
  • Preferred: experience supporting AI/ML workloads, including feature stores, vector or unstructured data, model evaluation, and generative AI systems.
  • Preferred: practical experience with data governance, quality, lineage, cataloging, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Preferred: evidence of industry influence through open-source contributions, technical publications, patents, or established industry standards.

Benefits

  • Starting salary range is $296,300.00 to $374,800.00 for U.S. and/or Canada locations, excluding incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.
  • Benefits may include medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid parental leave, disability coverage, basic life insurance, and potential Cisco restricted stock unit grants.
  • Paid time off may include holidays, birthday leave, year-end shutdown, wellness days, vacation or flexible vacation, sick time, family emergency leave, and volunteer days, subject to eligibility and Cisco policies.
  • Non-sales employees may be eligible for annual bonuses subject to Cisco policies.
