Responsibilities
- Build and scale backend systems and services supporting millions of users and high-volume financial activity.
- Create a global financial identity verification and risk management service.
- Design and implement reliable, scalable backend architecture and microservices.
- Translate business requirements into flexible implementation models and proactively address technical challenges.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and improve interactions between Alpaca systems and other teams.
- Maintain software quality, test coverage, clean code, and participate in code reviews.
- Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs, with occasional on-call support for timely engineering projects.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working on systems at scale.
- Proven experience building and maintaining microservices.
- Strong coding skills, preferably in Go.
- Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven design.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, especially Kubernetes.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and debug or anticipate issues.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and independent working skills.
- Preferred qualifications include finance industry experience, financial identity management or KYC experience, messaging queues or brokers, external service integrations, remote work, startup experience, and a DevOps mindset.
