Responsibilities
- Build and scale systems and services supporting Alpaca’s global payments and treasury platform.
- Design and implement scalable, resilient, event-driven microservices and client-facing APIs.
- Architect solutions for distributed systems, financial ledgers, payment rails, and payment lifecycles.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and debug or proactively prevent system issues.
- Contribute to defining engineering goals and challenge conventions when appropriate.
- Work with containerization, orchestration, cloud platforms, messaging queues, relational databases, and modern infrastructure practices.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working on systems at scale.
- Proven experience building and maintaining microservices and client-facing APIs.
- Strong coding skills, preferably in Go.
- Experience with domain-driven design, event-driven design, distributed systems, messaging queues, and message brokers.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of payment rails, payment lifecycles, double-entry accounting, and financial ledgers.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, independent-working, and software-quality skills.
- Preferred experience with financial reconciliation systems, ISO20022, financial services, payments initiation, startups, exchanges, brokerages, market makers, or hedge funds.
- Experience working remotely and a DevOps mindset are additional assets.
