Responsibilities
- Lead time-boxed strategic customer engagements from evaluation to production-grade technical wins.
- Own architecture strategy, design scalable data and AI solutions, and lead whiteboarding, design reviews, and trade-off decisions.
- Build, debug, and demonstrate working solutions using Python and SQL.
- Demonstrate Databricks capabilities in competitive technical evaluations and drive platform adoption.
- Transition engagement outcomes to core solutions architects, specialists, data specialists, or partners.
- Capture reusable patterns, engagement plays, and product feedback for the wider field engineering organization.
Requirements
- Typically six or more years of experience in solutions architecture, data engineering, technical pre-sales, or a senior hands-on technical role, or equivalent depth.
- Hands-on coding ability in Python and SQL.
- Experience with distributed data systems, production cloud deployments, scalable pipelines, streaming, lakehouse patterns, and the infrastructure, security, and governance needed to operate them.
- Proficiency with the Databricks Platform or demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on new technologies.
- Experience leading architecture discussions, design reviews, trade-off analysis, recommendations, and business-value communication with engineers and executives.
- Comfort with ambiguity, time-boxed engagements, prioritization, variety, and high-impact work.
- Databricks Data Engineer, ML, or Platform certifications are desirable.
- Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS native services, and Azure Synapse, including competitive positioning, is desirable.
- Experience in a data/AI company or cloud provider, or depth in an industry vertical such as financial services, healthcare, retail, or media, is desirable.
