Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own forward-deployed customer engagements from discovery and problem definition through solution implementation, validation, and production adoption.
- Design and implement automation, configuration, provisioning logic, integrations, and reference implementations alongside customer engineers.
- Provide technical depth on Windows, WSL, WSLC, containers, virtualization, developer environments, build performance, CI, identity, security, and endpoint policy.
- Diagnose developer productivity, performance, reliability, tooling, platform, and enterprise-configuration problems and fix them at the appropriate layer.
- Build production artifacts such as configuration baselines, provisioning automation, diagnostic tooling, and reference environments.
- Bring reproductions, traces, measurements, and business impact to product teams and drive fixes, telemetry, and supportability improvements through shipping.
- Convert recurring customer solutions into playbooks, reference configurations, tooling, and guidance that can serve broader populations.
- Demonstrate adoption through production workloads, telemetry, customer evidence, and agreed success measures.
- Build trusted relationships with customer technical leaders, platform teams, developers, Microsoft field teams, and executives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience involving coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Preferred experience with developer platforms and environments across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Preferred experience with WSL, containers and virtualization, developer machine provisioning and configuration management, package and dependency management, build systems, CI/CD, or inner-loop performance.
- Preferred experience with endpoint security and EDR, identity and conditional access, application control, and network policy.
- Preferred customer-facing engineering experience in forward deployed engineering, field engineering, technical consulting, escalation engineering, solutions architecture, or a comparable technical founder role.
- Preferred experience diagnosing performance and reliability issues using telemetry, traces, profiling, Windows Performance Analyzer, or comparable tooling.
- Preferred ability to ship production-quality tooling, scale customer solutions into repeatable offerings, and influence product priorities with technical evidence and business impact.
- Familiarity with WinUI, WPF, .NET desktop, and application modernization is valuable but not required.
