Responsibilities
- Develop system software drivers and utilities for point-of-sale terminals, servers, and peripheral devices.
- Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and improve system software interfaces between point-of-sale applications and hardware.
- Analyze problems and recommend technical solutions for retail, grocery, gas station, and restaurant systems.
- Coordinate with offshore development and testing resources to manage software deliverables.
- Produce functional designs, technical designs, use cases, and technical release documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate project status to management.
- Estimate development work, manage multiple projects, and deliver software features under deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- 1–6 years of software development-related experience.
- Programming experience with C, C++, C#, and/or Java.
- Experience working with Windows and Linux.
- Working knowledge of computer architectures, technology trends, and emerging technologies.
- Preferred experience with Windows and Linux kernel-mode drivers, low-level interfaces, and point-of-sale hardware devices.
- Preferred knowledge of UPOS, including OPOS and JavaPOS, Linux containers, Microsoft Visual Studio, GitHub, Jira, Ethernet, WiFi, TCP/IP, sockets, PXE boot, Wireshark, USB, RS-232, and bus analyzers.
- Preferred experience developing software for hardware systems using debuggers, in-circuit emulators, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively, document technical work, collaborate with teams, and manage concurrent priorities.
