Responsibilities
- Own applied ML, research, and production deployment end to end.
- Build cut-time prediction models using alloy, thickness, geometry, and machine data.
- Develop nesting scoring and optimization models for manufacturing operations.
- Build demand intelligence and procurement models for purchasing decisions.
- Develop NLP and LLM features for sales-order parsing, RFQ ingestion, and customer communication.
- Build computer vision and OCR systems for certification-package automation and dimensional inspection.
- Ship models, APIs, user interfaces, deployments, monitoring, and integrations without handoffs.
- Own data collection, labeling, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and retraining across the ML lifecycle.
- Build data infrastructure and feature pipelines for future ML work.
- Embed ML into NOX NEST, WAYNE, and Gondor in partnership with the software team.
- Work with operators, schedulers, and buyers on the manufacturing floor to understand and improve training data and systems.
- Follow safety procedures and hold teammates to the same safety standards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of ML engineering experience shipping production models to real users.
- Strong foundation in applied machine learning, foundation models or novel architectures, and production deployment.
- Strong Python skills and experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
- Ability to ship production code across models, APIs, integrations, and user interfaces as needed.
- Experience with MLOps, model monitoring, retraining, and maintaining production models.
- Experience collecting, labeling, and structuring training data from messy real-world systems.
- High attention to quality, ownership, reliability, organization, and detail.
- Commitment to workplace safety, protocols, and required personal protective equipment.
- Preferred experience in manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, or industrial environments.
- Preferred computer vision experience, including OCR, dimensional inspection, or defect detection.
- Preferred optimization and operations research experience, including nesting, scheduling, or routing.
- Preferred NLP and LLM experience with structured extraction, agentic workflows, or applied retrieval.
- Preferred experience integrating with hardware, PLCs, CNC controllers, or shop-floor systems.
- Open-source work, published research, or a portfolio of built projects is a plus.
