Responsibilities
- Build, troubleshoot, extend, and fix complex Ruby and Go applications and self-contained Go microservices.
- Improve the execution engine for custom third-party code, including Ruby DSL isolation, performance, and new features.
- Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code in Ruby and Go.
- Integrate PostgreSQL, Amazon S3, DynamoDB, Kafka, ClickHouse, and other data-storage solutions.
- Contribute across all phases of the development lifecycle and provide code reviews.
- Provide technical leadership and collaborate with other teams on shared projects.
- Evaluate system improvements, identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions.
- Maintain code quality, organization, and automation while exploring technologies such as Rust and WebAssembly.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend applications.
- Strong understanding of distributed-systems patterns, algorithms, network protocols, databases, NoSQL technologies, and web-application building blocks.
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages; the primary codebase uses Ruby and is migrating toward Go and Rust.
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes, Terraform, and Argo CD deployments.
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Optional experience includes Go, Rust, WebAssembly, network programming, Kotlin Multiplatform, application or data security, physical database design, Docker, DevOps, ML, DBA, enterprise applications, data-processing pipelines, and third-party REST APIs at scale.
- Ability to technically lead projects, work with requirements and cost analysis, and collaborate with globally distributed teams.
